This issue of the magazine contains a wide spectrum of articles from the caste issue in India, to the Kurdish question, to an analysis o the growing might of China seen though its BRI project, to a current analysis of the budget recently presented.
Though world economic growth is reasonably sound flash POINTS ARE GROWING WITH the development of two clear blocs – US/Isreal and its allies on the one side and Russia-China and its allies on the other. The contention is sharpening with each passing day as the wars in Ukraine middle east and tensions in Taiwan indicate. Once the economic crisis grows these can result in growing military confit and even the possibility of a third world war. But for the time it will just simmer, blowing hot and cold with each bloc trying to consolidate its allies. If we are to learn from such earlier conflict the progressives of the world have to unite against the mar aggressor – which today is US imperialism. The present Indian govt is vacillating as it has its eggs in both baskets and tries to appease both lobbies. (Rediff.com. Retrieved 23 May 2016). Rise of Trump to power and his continuous sabre rattling from day one, is an indication of what is in store. While most government’s have reused to bow before the dictator, not so INDIA, even though our citizens were humiliated and sent back in chains like animals. Yet our prime minister meets Trump and not a word is raised in this regard. Infact in the meeting the US twisted Modi’s arm to get him to buy US oil gas and other items at hugely inflated rates. The US is to become India’s top oil and gas supplier. So far the opposition in India is totally silent on these humiliating deals signed by Modi.
The Indian people must rise and demand the abrogation of all deal done with Trump in the US and reassert our self respect in the community of nations.
Finally 21st Feb is international mother tongue day. India being a multinational country languages are linked to the nationality issue in india and the issue of federalism. One must oppose imposition of Hindi and/or English and allow the languages of our country to flourish.
