RSS is being criticised from its foundation as a communal body and has been exposed by Indian and foreign media many times. Recently Caravan magazine has exposed how it is spread in numerous countries and the number of its affiliated organisations in India and abroad.
The most recent exposure is done by the New York Times (29 December 2025) .
The RSS is being criticised, opposed and exposed by social organisations and also by some political parties. It was banned by the Congress Government two times.
First in 1948, when Mahatma Gandhi was murdered and secondly when Babri mosque was demolished in 1992.
Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders are also criticising and exposing the RSS’ dominance in the government departments and agencies.
The organisations and political parties that are from the lower castes or untouchables are also opposing the RSS and BJP.
It is a mute question how their exposure will affect the ongoing march of the RSS and of the BJP. RSS has been facing criticism and exposure for decades but in spite of that its strength and hold on the people is growing and the growth is enormous. It is the richest organisation in the country.
As said earlier its tentacles are spread in numerous countries. The RSS missionaries are the people who mostly have gone to those countries and settled. They belong mostly to Brahmin and allied castes.
Caste and the RSS
RSS is the organisation founded by Brahmans for making India Hindu nation. Hindu nation concept is not born only to oppose Islam , Christian religions as is generally understood.
Golwalkar says “ The word Rashtra, which expresses the whole of the idea in the English word “Nation” is as old as the Vedas and in the ancient works is described in a general way”, (We or our Nationhood Defined, p.51) Hence in RSS thinking is Hindu Nation existed from the Vedic time. Can it be so? When state and Nation concept are recent arrangements can it be believed that Nation existed since Vedic times?
We only can refute the claim but who can stop RSS from holding such fantastic claims?
Now, Hindu Nation
basically is for maintenance of the caste hierarchy or Brahmanic hegemony and for keeping the challenges from subdued, lower caste and untouchables at bay. How the inhumanly treated non-Brahmins will not revolt against Brahmin rule.
Because the RSS is scared of any revolt by the majority non-Brahmin population which has been enslaved by Brahmins for centuries. Brahmins and allied castes are scared of the majority enslaved population; there was brewing sort of anger in them since the time of English rule which ended the Peshwa Brahmin rule and thereafter the rise of Satyashodhak and Dravid movements which challenged Brahmanic hegemony.
Brahmins call them Anti-Hindu. That means maintaining Brahmin hegemony is Hinduism. Some anti-Brahmin movements led by Jyotirao Phule have openly called Arya Brahmins as invaders and
the original enemy. The non-Aryans, who were the rulers before the conquest by the Aryans.
Muslims in the country are also mostly original inhabitants belonging to the lower castes and untouchables.
Ex RSS chief M S. Golwalkar once remarked that Hindu nation would have been a necessity without Muslims even. Thus it is clear that its main thrust is for maintaining the caste hierarchy. Keeping Shudras and untouchables the servile classes.
This is not exactly the imitation of Hitler or Mussolini. Because both of them had no followings to the extent the RSS has but it is growing and has become the political ruling party in the form of the BJP.
The RSS is being opposed by some political parties but these parties have only political agenda and they are opposing the BJP and not the RSS’ agenda which is comprehensive, all pervading. Its agenda is forming a system,Nation.
wherein Brahminism will decide about culture, religion, language for the people.
RSS claims that Brahmins are the creators of the religion, language, culture.
Golwalkar says five units form the Nation i.e territory, race or Caste, religion, language and culture. The nation belongs to those who have supremacy in all these units. Hence Nation according to RSS is theirs.
Opposing BJP is opposing a branch of the RSS’ combine,its political wing. Its hegemony is multi pronged. It says “We, Brahmins are at the crest of all the factors and are creators of religion, culture, language and we are the upper most in the Caste structure.”
Do opposition political parties have a befitting alternate vision on culture, languages, religion, caste system? Or they on the same footings? It seems they do not have an alternatives. They follow what RSS l, Brahmins say and do.
Did any party oppose Ram temple? That means they are, in a way, under the RSS’ vision of religion as they have not opposed Ram temple. Even the highest judiciary supported Ram temple.
Only Dravidians challenged RSS religiously, socially, regarding caste system and in cultural fields. That shows the need is of complete opposition
to the RSS’ entire Nation concept.
Challenging the RSS
Those who wanted to defeat RSS will have to give alternative to all the factors
that RSS propagates and forms its Nation concept.
As Manu says Brahmins are the highest caste and the people all over the world need to take advice from them and secondly Brahmins are the owners of this country according to ManuSmriti and RSS chief Golwalkar repeats it in his book.(see – Sri Guruji samagra Darshan Bhag1, p. 108)™
This sort of thinking is exceptional and this is not seen countered by any political party or social organisations. Or they have not given serious attention to this. RSS behaviour is akin to this thinking. This thinking cannot be removed unless RSS’ hold is not completely wiped out.
